Since 1897, Maine has had a Guide Licensing procedure thanks to Fly Rod Crosby, that gives the sports hiring them a piece of mind that they are in the hands of a responsible, knowledgeable, and a safe person that will have prepared to give them an outing worth remembering.
Don Kleiner
Maine’s midcoast and the Saint George River watershed offer a variety of opportunities not far from Camden, Rockport, and Rockland.
For Pike fishing, we’ll start and end our trip at Seven Tree Pond in Union, or other hidden fishing spots known only to locals.
For early and late season brook trout fishing trips, we’ll head to small, dark streams, rivers, small ponds, local lakes, and other hidden fishing spots.
For striper, we’ll travel the Saint George River in Thomaston Harbor and along Maine’s rockbound coast. Striper’s difficulty lies in using specific fly and lures. Don’s expertise in this area creates a better chance of catching your desired fish, whether it be Stripers, Bass, Trout, or Pike.
Don is happy to guide family trips and he teaches fly flishing.
Offers highly personalized and professional fly fishing trips to some of the most beautiful places in Maine. Whether you want to fish a particular water or are seeking a specific species, he will work hard to help you achieve your goals.
The main areas that he guides are The Forks, Bingham, Solon and Madison, but he also does…..Drift Boat trips on the Kennebec!
One or two people. The drift boat trip, on sections of the Kennebec, can provide access to parts of the river inaccessible by wading. A drift boat provides a stable platform from which to cast while standing or sitting. We’ll anchor in current or glide through the shallows, spending the day relaxing on the river. This is a long day on the water, so be prepared for starting and ending in the dark.
PROVIDED: A full shore lunch, drinks, and snacks are included. $350
Todd Towle- guide and photographer
Todd covers a lot of areas to fly fish but check out our home waters for the shop-Kennebec River: Each section of this large river is unique in its structure, habitat, and species. The following area descriptions offer a glimpse of what is available for the fly fisher. His guide service is called Kingfisher Guide Service.
The great thing about Todd is not only is he a guide but he is also a great photographer. Many of the photos on the website were taken by Todd- are all rights reserved.
Guided fly-fishing trips We can wade into the crystal-clear rivers and streams for coldwater species such as brook trout, browns, rainbows and landlocked salmon. We can also take our grand laker canoes, which are large, stable motor-driven craft that make great fishing platforms and get us into those “hard to reach” places. These boats are traditional to Maine waters and are a pleasure to fish from. Our boat trips are mostly for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, pickerel and pike. We like to incorporate a shore lunch with those trips and cook your catch shoreside. In case you feel more comfortable with traditional spinning gear, you’ll be happy to know that we have a full array of tackle for this type of fishing as well!
Had an absolute blast! My husband and I went for a whole day trip for beginning fly fishing. Don was the epitome of hospitality and did a great job putting us on fish. He went above our expectations with a really nice picnic lunch. We both can’t wait to go again. 5 out of 5 stars.
What an absolutely AWESOME experience, Jeff! First time fly fishing for us. A few nibbles was all the fish would give us. Plus we fished through an absolute downpour, but we were never deterred. Jeff provided a delicious hot lunch that kept us in the game. I only wish we had more time in beautiful northern Maine to try again. Jeff is an excellent fishing guide!!! He certainly knows his craft. We WILL be back!!! Facebook review November 11, 2017
